Joe's Lunch
Saskatoon, SK

306.242.7286
When in Saskatoon and craving a burger, Joe's Lunch is the place to go for the "best burger in Western Canada, if not in all of Canada." Think "small town diner, where you make yourself at home by getting your own soft drinks from the cooler beside the till" and where you "write your own order on a slip of paper." The ambience is a bit quirky, but the burger is "to die for."

Temple Gardens Mineral Spa
Moose Jaw, SK

800.718.SPAS
Natural geothermal mineral water is one reason why Temple Gardens Mineral Spa is an "absolutely world-class spa." In addition to the pampering benefits, the historic tunnels add to the town's charm. Take a tour under Moose Jaw's main streets to see the "infamous Chinese underground" where Al Capone allegedly ran his bootleg operations. Read more.

Gimli Film Festival
Gimli, MB

Gimli Film Festival
Head out of the city "60 miles north of Winnipeg" to the town of Gimli, "a very popular Icelandic fishing village and a wonderful summer town." Set right on scenic Lake Winnipeg, this film festival has "a screen set up on the edge of the lake and shows movies after sundown until 1am." These movies under the stars celebrate Canadian filmmakers. Even if you don't see the Northern Lights during the movie screenings, "it is an unbelievable experience to sit on the sand facing the lake and watch films with your family and friends." Read more.

Lakeland Gallery and Tea House
Christopher Lake, SK

306.982.2223 or 306.982.2558
"A hidden gem" located on Highway 2 north of Prince Albert, the Lakeland Art Gallery and Tea House is an "original way to see Saskatchewan culture." Start your day with a hike along the trails that lead to this gallery featuring stain glass, wood turning, pottery, and other "Saskatchewan treasures" that are "great quality for a good price." Relax in the "tranquil" tea house as you indulge in some homemade soups, salads, breads, prepared by the "friendly" owners.

The Bridge Drive-In
Winnipeg, MB

204.475.6850
"Summer evenings and weekends" are the "best time to enjoy the unique ice cream treats and historic bridge walkway" at this "classic Winnipeg treasure." Located right next to the "historic" Elm Street Bridge, this ice cream parlor is "tucked away just off the busy streets." The "famous" Red River flows nearby, offering "a perfect compliment" to the sundaes, milkshakes, and other "one-of-a-kind ice cream treats." Chocolate fans: be sure to ask for the hot fudge.

Kaposvar Pilgrimage
Esterhazy, SK

Kaposvar Pilgrimage
Considered one of the "most beautiful churches in one of the most wonderful locations in the world," the old stone church in Kaposvar was built in 1906 with stones that were hauled from surrounding farms. In 1954, roughly 2,500 pilgrims attended the first public pilgrimage-one that continues today, each Labor Day weekend. The Kaposvar Pilgrimage is "an authentic event full of history and tradition." You don't need to be a member to participate, "you can be a part" of this unique event "rather than just read about it."

Souris Swinging Bridge
Souris, MB

This catwalk-style bridge is "ruly a site to see" in the "quaint" town of Souris. Although "you may feel like Indiana Jones" to cross it, this "super sturdy" "fully functional" foot bridge is used by the "whole town" to get to the East side of the Souris River. The Swinging Bridge was originally built by Squire Sowden to enable him to get to his farm lands. Now his home is a Museum located by the West entrance to The Swinging Bridge. Read more.

Alycia's Restaurant
Winnipeg, MB

204.582.8789
For some "good, stick-to-your-rib" Ukranian cuisine, follow the Winnipeg locals to Alycia's Restaurant for "home cooking" at a "bargain price." Famous for their perogies that are "dough-filled delights" filled with cheddar cheese, mashed potato, cottage cheese, onion, or sauerkraut, locals have called these dumplings the "greatest comfort food." People come "all the way from Michigan" to taste the famous borsht too, and the breakfast is a "great way to warm up during the Winnipeg winters."
