Dream Garden, Curtis Center
Philadelphia
215.238.6484
The Dream Garden is a 15-foot by 49-foot Tiffany glass mosaic that was designed by Maxfield Parish in 1916. Some believe it is "one of the most beautiful mosaics that Tiffany has ever done." It is located in the lobby of the Curtis Publishing Company, the publisher of the Ladies Home Journal, and "almost no one knows about it." There are "beautiful fountains in front of the mosaic, and you get an overwhelming sense of peace and beauty when you are there."
Seven Tubs
Wilkes-Barre
570.256.3212
The Tubs are seven holes formed by Wheelbarrow Run, a large stream near the nature trail. There are "two types of trails, one is a flat, scenic route for mountain bikers and walkers," the other is "a more advanced trail that follows the stream up and down Bear Creek Mountain." The trail "follows old PA 309 and comes out to a railroad track and scenic overlook of the mountain." The area is "great for everyone because it features all types of attractions, from refreshing pools of water to trails for walking, jogging, or hiking."

Sugar Mountain Carriages
Bushkill
570.588.3063
Take a guided trail ride, a horse-drawn carriage ride, or a sleigh ride (weather permitting) through the woods in the Poconos Mountains with Sugar Mountain Carriages. For those wanting an even more unique experience, Sugar Mountain Carriages might be the "only place in the east that will trailer the horses to off-site locations so you can experience more of the area from the back of a horse." They "take the time and effort to introduce and instruct everyone on how to best enjoy his or her experience." The riding groups are "limited in size, so you get individual help and attention." In late October, indulge in a big Halloween treat and take a "haunted Halloween wagon ride through the spooky woods."
Wolf Creek School Cafe
Slippery Rock
724.794.1899
The Wolf Creek School Cafe is an old school house that retains lots of its past charm, like having "the menu written on the blackboard." Surprisingly, even though it used to be a school, it's a nice atmosphere for dining. The decor is eclectic, with old "pictures of students and teachers who attended the school still intact." The cafe is a little "piece of history that can still be enjoyed." Plus, "the food is excellent."
Stock's Bakery
Philadelphia
215.634.7344
Stock's Bakery is especially well known for its pound cake. Many visitors of this "quaint, almost unrecognizable" shop in a brick row off of Allegheny Avenue in Port Richmond declare Stock's to have "the best cake ever!" With pound cakes that are popular for "every special occasion" from weddings to birthdays, Stock's enjoys a loyal following. Arguably one of the "best-kept secrets of bakeries on the east coast," Stock's uses a special brick oven, includes simple ingredients, and tops it all off with a creamy white fudge icing. They also sell loaves of cinnamon raisin bread every Saturday morning, but you have to come early because they "sell out in minutes."

Moravian Book Shop
Bethlehem
610.866.5481
Located on Main Street in Bethlehem (nicknamed the Christmas City), the Moravian Book Shop and its surrounding area are "particularly beautiful during the holidays when all the shops are decorated, the gaslights are lit, and the music is playing." Opened in 1745, it is the oldest continuously operating bookstore in the country, and arguably the world. There is no better place to "gift shop, grab a bite to eat, peruse books, and learn about the history of Bethlehem." Read more.
Mutter Museum
Philadelphia
215.563.3737, ext. 211
The Mutter Museum at the College of Physicians of Philadelphia is a "truly odd and interesting museum that is not in mainstream publications." The collection includes "vintage medical equipment and medical oddities" like Siamese twins, a giant colon, the tumor of Grover Cleveland, and various skeletons, brains, and more. A visit here is "unique and unforgettable!" Some might think it's "a little gross, but it's gross to the point of fascinating." There is even an exhibit of a woman who turned into soap (which sometimes appears at the Smithsonian). When you're here, you'll realize that "medical oddities are never quite what you expect."
Pine Creek Rail Trail
Tioga County
570.724.2868
The Pine Creek Rail Trail "showcases the best of the Pennsylvania Grand Canyon, located north of Williamsport." The trail ride from Blackwell to Ansonia has been rated as "one of the best biking trails." The Pennsylvania Grand Canyon is something that few people, even locals, know of." This trail is a "renovated train track, with the rocks removed and flattened completely." The ride is "smooth and beautiful, with plenty of rest stops along the way." Read more.
