BJ’s Bayou — Roberts
Idaho Falls

208.228.2331
For a "taste of Louisiana in the West," come to BJ’s for "authentic New Orleans cuisine." In the tiny town of Roberts (population 700) just a few minutes from Idaho Falls, lies a historic hotel that is home to this Cajun/Creole restaurant. In the "Voodoo Lounge," there is an extensive wine list and a full bar, which may help you fortify the nerve to check out their pet alligators! As for what’s on the menu, be sure to try their Creole and Etoufee. "Everything on the menu is perfect for familystyle sharing."

Festival at Sandpoint
Sandpoint

208.265.4554
The livin’ is easy at this casual and relaxed summertime concert series. Right on the shores of Lake Pend Orielle, "the atmosphere is so intimate it feels as though musicians are playing in your backyard. Bring your own picnic and cooler for what will feel like a private concert just for you." When the festival began, it only featured classical music, but has since branched out to jazz, blues, folk, and popular music as well. Past musicians have ranged from B.B. King and Lyle Lovett to the Brian Seltzer Orchestra and Wynton Marsalis. Read more.

Heise Hot Springs
Ririe

208.538.7312
For tight muscles and stress headaches, there’s nothing like this "quiet little place" located "out of the way and near the mountains." The swimming pools lie invitingly beside an original logconstructed hotel, and in summer the temperature is regulated to a perfect 82 degrees. Summer is also ideal for the "avid outdoors person" who loves camping and hiking trails. Thrillseekers take to the 350foot waterslide and the outfitted fishing and float trips on the Snake River. For something more sedate, there is a ninehole golf course. In winter, even when there is snow you can enjoy a dip in the 105degree natural mineral pools. Read more.

Buddy’s Italian Restaurant
Pocatello

208.233.1172
For 42 years, this locally owned and family operated eatery has been making homemade ravioli, hearty Italianstyle dinner platters, stuffed sandwiches, and pizza. Those "in the know" order the salad, which isn’t fancy, but is drenched in Buddy’s dressing with a little bit of antipasto — and is delicious! In fact, the owners say the dressing is so wellloved that you can purchase it to take home with you. Other favorites include Chick’s Special. Be forewarned you’ll need more than a mint to clear your Buddy’s breathbut locals insist it’s well worth it." Read more.
