My e-ticket - How does my e-ticket work?

Electronic ticketing (e-ticketing) is a convenient way to book travel. Rather than waiting for a paper ticket in the mail, all your travel information is sent directly to the airline immediately. With an e-ticket there is no need to present a paper ticket at check-in. All you need is your government-issued photo ID, although some airlines also require that you show the credit card used to purchase your ticket. Additional documentation may be needed when traveling outside the United States.
Unfortunately e-tickets are not available on all airlines or on all routes. In cases where an airline requires a paper ticket you will see a warning beside the price before final selection so you know when additional fees are required.
More Advantages to E-tickets
  • E-tickets can make your overall travel experience less stressful - no need to worry about forgetting, losing or not receiving your paper ticket. Keep in mind that many airlines charge a $100 (or more) lost ticket fee.
  • All trip details, including itinerary, are available in “My Stuff” - and will serve as a ticketing receipt.
  • When changes are necessary for an e-ticket, arrangements can be made over the phone without the need of returning your original ticket for reissue.
  • Depending on the airline, online check-in may also be available.
