1. What kind of computer system do I need to access the Reservations Area of AOL Travel?
2. Why am I having trouble purchasing tickets? I'm getting messages such as "Illegal Operation," and "General Protection Fault."
3. How can I access the Reservations Area of AOL Travel if I use Windows 3.x or Windows NT and use America Online as my connection to the internet?

1. The minimum system requirements to run AOL Travel are:
  • A computer running a Web browser that supports advanced browser features, such as Netscape Communicator and Navigator 3.0 or later; Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0 or later; or AOL 3.0/4.0/5.0 for Windows 95/98. You can identify which browser you are currently using by clicking "About" on your browser's Help menu.
  • Super VGA 256-color monitor
  • Mouse or compatible pointing device
  • RAM recommended by your Web browser vendor. For example, if you are running Internet Explorer on Windows 95, you need at least 8MB of RAM. We recommend that you use a display resolution of 800x600 or greater. We also recommend that you use a browser supporting Secure Sockets Layer (SSL), such as Netscape 3.0 or Microsoft Internet Explorer 3.0.
2. These errors indicate that you may be using an unsupported Web browser or that your browser is configured incorrectly. Refer to the Help menu on your browser for information about proper configuration.
3. The browser imbedded in the Windows 3.x or Windows NT versions of America Online has known limitations which may impact the use of some areas of AOL Travel. As a result, you will need to use a secondary internet browser to have full functionality of AOL Travel when using America Online. If you are using Windows 95 or Windows 98 use the AOL keyword - "Upgrade" to upgrade your existing version of AOL that will allow full functionality of AOL Travel.

Follow the steps below only if you are using Windows 3.x or Windows NT.
  • Go to www.netscape.com or AOL keyword "Netscape." Once the Netscape site has loaded, click on the "Download" button (it's at the top of the screen) for instructions on downloading Netscape Navigator and using it as your secondary Internet browser. Netscape Navigator will give you access to all the features of AOL Travel's Reservations Area.
  • Reboot your computer.
  • Start America Online, sign on, and while you are still connected to America Online, start the Netscape browser that you installed.
  • Type the URL http://www.aol.com/webcenters/travel/home.adp in the location field of Netscape. You now have full access to all features of AOL Travel.
