Hugh Jones
President & Chief Executive Officer, Travelocity Global
Hugh Jones has never met a mountain he was afraid to climb. A 20-year veteran of the travel industry, Jones is Travelocity Global's president and CEO and oversees a portfolio of businesses around the world, including Travelocity, lastminute.com in Europe and ZUJI and Asia Pacific.
Jones previously served in various positions at Travelocity Global's parent company, Sabre Holdings. As senior vice president and chief operating officer for Sabre Travel Network and Sabre Airline Solutions, he oversaw airline supplier initiatives, global customer support, performance management and business process re-engineering.
Jones' other jobs with Sabre have included senior vice president, North America for Sabre Travel Network, and senior vice president and controller where he managed general accounting functions and corporate financial planning and analysis.
Jones began his career in travel with American Airlines in 1988. There, he was financial controller for the airline's European and Pacific airport, sales and reservations operations, and financial controller of food and beverage services, responsible for a $725 million food service budget. He also served as manager of financial analysis, where he coordinated both competitive and labor contract analysis.
A big sports fan, Jones enjoys cheering for the Green Bay Packers football team and he also follows rugby and cricket abroad. He is an avid skier and especially enjoys the slopes of Park City, Utah with his wife and two daughters.
Jones earned a master's degree in business administration from Southern Methodist University and a bachelor's degree in geology from the University of Wisconsin.
Favorite travel moment:
"My first trip to Africa was the trip of my life. We spent time in Zimbabwe and visited Victoria Falls and white water rafted down the Zambezi, experiencing the wildlife of Hwange National Park."
